Welcome to Captain’s Corner

Welcome to Captain’s Corner Magazine — a magazine created by sailors for sailors, and for everyone who shares a passion for life on the water.

After many years at sea, I have learned that yachting is about far more than beautiful boats and exotic destinations. Behind every successful voyage is a community of skilled people — captains, officers, engineers, crew, designers, builders and technicians — whose knowledge and experience keep our industry moving forward.

I am originally from Budapest, Hungary, and was educated in the United States, Sweden and the United Kingdom. I hold a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Uppsala University and completed my maritime studies at the prestigious Warsash Maritime Academy. My career at sea began as a diver, then I moved into deck officer roles on cruise ships and spent eight years at sea with over six Trans-Atlantic crossings. Since entering professional yachting in 2021, I have sailed the Baltic, North Sea, North Atlantic, Mediterranean, Red Sea and Caribbean, while participating in regattas such as the Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, Solaris Cup in Porto Cervo, Sardinia, and the Superyacht Cup in Palma de Mallorca.

These experiences have shown me how much knowledge exists within our industry — much of it learned through experience and rarely shared beyond the workplace.

That is why I created Captain’s Corner: to bring our community together, share knowledge and experiences, explore new technology and trends, and help each other become better at what we do. From safety, navigation and seamanship to engineering, maintenance and the stories of the people behind our industry, this magazine is about learning from one another.

Some lessons come from manuals and classrooms. Others can only be learned through experience. Captain’s Corner is a place to share both.

I hope this magazine becomes more than simply another source of information. I hope it becomes a place where our professional community can connect, learn from one another, exchange ideas and inspire the next generation of maritime professionals.

Welcome aboard.
